The Walper Hotel Venue Spotlight
We are thrilled to be a preferred vendor at The Walper Hotel. It is such a beautiful space, offering couples historic charm with a contemporary style. Here's some more information about the Walper Hotel.

The Walper hotel was built in 1893 by Abel Walper and is located at King St / Queen St in Kitchener – one of the oldest intersections in town! The Zuber family then owned the hotel from 1908-1975. In 2016 it was purchased by new local owners and a major renovation was completed on all guests rooms, event spaces and all our behind-the-scene systems!
They have 3 restaurants/food & beverage spaces:
LOKAL Lounge – on-site, 2nd floor cocktail lounge – big city style, locally and seasonally inspired cocktail and food menu featuring snacks and shareables, no dress code, perfect for after work cocktails or a night cap drink.
TWH Social – in-house farm-to-table restaurant inspired by foods found in Waterloo Region and Southwestern Ontario, extensive wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. Heartfelt service, gathering place for the community.
The Barrister’s Lounge – our breakfast room overlooks the corner of King St & Queen St, beautiful natural light. Offering full hot breakfast menu on weekends, express breakfast on weekdays. Serving locally inspired and locally sourced ingredients.
They are proud to be part of the DTK (Downtown Kitchener) Community and love their Walper Block and the neighbours they share the block with, like Abel’s on Queen Barber Shop, Romeo’s Salon Spa, Walper Tobacco Shop, Gary Evans Photography and Good Vibes Juice and more!
Weddings at Walper
The Walper Hotel has been a premier wedding venue in Waterloo Region for over a Century and they take that responsibility seriously! They welcome couples wanting a wedding large (post-COVID restrictions of course!) and small, receptions, ceremonies, pre & post wedding parties and anything in between. Their Wedding Team is focused on connecting with their couples, and they work closely with them to make their vision a reality. They offer 3 main packages, “Moonlight”, “1893” and “Luxe”, and each have menus and offerings to choose from, based on a couple’s preference.

Within the Walper they have several locations that work for weddings, depending on what a couple is looking for:
The Crystal Ballroom – Their largest space, and a classic beauty. Crystal chandeliers, beautiful wood floors and incredible natural light make this a stunning wedding space.
Lokal – this 2nd floor cocktail lounge vibe is a great space for people wanting a big-city lounge vibe for weddings or for bridal showers, engagement parties, etc.
Oak Lobby – gorgeous wood detail, large windows overlooking King street.
Oak Room – the perfect setting for an intimate, elopement style wedding or family dinner.
King Conference Room – a perfect backdrop for a mid-size wedding, it’s a blank slate and a decorators dream! Large windows look onto King Street for a beautiful city feel.
The Barrister’s Lounge – a smaller sized room perfect for intimate elopements, this room has a warm, cozy feel due to all the woodwork and natural light.
The Cellar – a perfect small space for family dinners and receptions. This location is in TWH Social and has a prohibition-era style vibe with brickwork and unique , moody lighting.
The Konig is another mid-size space, also in our TWH Social restaurant, it is a DIY’ers dream, it’s ready to be transformed into any style or layout!
Additional offerings may include: get-ready suites, engagement photography on-site, rehearsal dinners, breakfast for guests the following morning. The beautiful thing about having your wedding here is the simplicity of having your guests head up to their rooms when they are ready!
Another one of the great things about being located in Downtown is being in a neighbourhood surrounded by incredible public art, architecture and public green spaces! They're happy to share their favourite photography spots with any of our couples 😉

They are also very excited to soon be launching their unique wedding website for their couples! Once a couple has booked with them, they’ll be guided through the planning process using their online resource, allowing them to think about all the different elements in an organized way, with support throughout the process!
Their team has worked incredibly hard over the past 13+ months with each of our couples to re-imagine their wedding, within the public health guidelines, and it’s been a joy to see people be able to tie-the-knot even in the extremely challenging times. They are really looking forward to the next chapter of wedding planning where we can return to slightly larger group sizes and less restrictions, hopefully later this year!
They are always here to talk about weddings or any party planning! Just reach out! 519-745-8477 or andrea.parisien@walper.com
